Topic: "The 5 Things Every Paralegal Should Know About HIPPA (and Texas Laws)"



"Ms. Dahm’s experience in the healthcare industry spans more than 45 years. Prior to her graduation from law school in 1995, she worked for healthcare information systems vendors, healthcare providers, and her own and another Big Four consulting firm. Upon graduation from law school, Ms. Dahm spent three years as in-house counsel for a major Integrated Delivery System located in Houston, Texas.

Recently, Ms. Dahm retired from Harris County where she worked as an Assistant County Attorney and as the County’s Privacy Officer. Ms. Dahm has been an Adjunct Professor at South Texas College of Law since 2004 and teaches Health Law, Privacy Law Seminar, and the transactional skills classes, Contract Negotiations and Drafting and Contract Building Blocks.

Ms. Dahm is the author of the Privacy Chapter for both of the American Bar Association’s treatises, PHARMACEUTICAL LAW: REGULATION OF RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT, AND MARKETING and E-HEALTH PRIVACY & SECURITY LAW. Dahm has written numerous other articles and papers on HIPAA and the GDPR as well as on other legal topics, is a recognized expert on privacy and confidentiality, and is a frequent speaker at healthcare, HIPAA, and legal regional and national conferences across the United States.

Ms. Dahm has conducted executive briefings for many healthcare clients and organizations, assisting them to raise awareness of HIPAA within their organizations and to identify their readiness for and the opportunities associated with the law and its regulations. In addition, she has managed and participated in several HIPAA Privacy and other healthcare Risk Assessments for healthcare provider and payor clients. Ms. Dahm has extensive and comprehensive knowledge and understanding of healthcare laws and regulations with particular emphasis on HIPAA, other state and federal confidentiality and privacy statutes, state and federal fraud and abuse laws, including Stark and Anti-Kickback laws, and laws that govern physician transactions and professional licensure and accreditation.

Ms. Dahm received her B.S. from Duke University, her J.D. (magna cum laude) from South Texas College of Law and her LL.M. in Health Law from the University of Houston."

Cancellation/No Show Policy:

Due to the contractual requirements imposed by the venues we use for our in-person events, cancellations are required to be made no later than 12PM at least four days before the event. Cancellations for our webinars must be made at least 24 hours before the event.
